Find an online course that allows you to practice.
Practice the online course over and over again. You must be scoring in the 80-90% or higher range before going to take a state exam. You should be scoring this high at least three times in a row for each section. Take the full practice test which simulates a full length state exam with a score above 80% at least three times before scheduling the state exam.
Understand that the questions are the test:
Whenever you get wrong answers , do not get frustrated, instead understand that you need to recognize all the wrong answers on state exams. So use the opportunity to recognize the wrong answers.
Eliminating the wrong answers helps you to answer state exam questions correctly.
BEFORE YOU START THE STATE EXAM
When getting ready to sit down and take a state exam do the following things first;
Make a column with a single question mark, a column with two question marks, a column with the word MATH. Leave enough space in each column to write down numbers. The numbers will be for any question whose answer is not 100% certain.
When you have a problem that you do not understand or you are not sure of; put it in the column with a single question mark.
When you have a question that you are pretty lost on, then write the number in the column with two question marks.
If a question contains a complicated math example that you are not sure about; put the question number in the column marked MATH.
Leave enough room below all the columns, so that you can write down any topics that you are not familiar with or not sure about when you see them on the test. Next to the topic name, you will write down the number of the exam question.
Go through the exam without hesitation. Fill in the columns and topics that you are not sure about as you go along in the actual state exam. Don’t spend more than 5 minutes on a question. When in doubt put it in one of the columns. You will be returning to these questions later so don’t spend any extra time on them.
After you finish the test go back and double check the problematic questions.
Finding the Right Answers
As you take the exam, notice which of the wrong answers are obvious, remember that you have seen most of the wrong answers many times.
There will be some answers that might seem familiar, be careful before selecting that answer. Instead, consider whether an answer, which is correct, might be rephrased or presented as a definition of a topic, rather than the name that you are most familiar with.
The key take away is to consider all of the wrong answers when you are studying. Getting wrong answers when you’re studying is very good. This allows you to read and recall those wrong answers during the test.
When you see the wrong answers as you study, you may, and should read to understand why that answer is wrong.
These tips will help you to more easily pass state exams. Keep in mind that results are a product of your effort. So don’t cheat the process. Put in the study time. If the recommendation is 100 hrs, study for 300 hrs. You will be unstoppable and tackle the test with extreme confidence.
Using these methods, you should be supremely confident when walking into an examination room to take a state exam.
